I was walking on the streets of
Varanasi near Ghats, and observed the people here are so busy in their own
world that at times it becomes difficult to differentiate whether they are out
for the work or recreation(outing). Everything looks so chaotic but when you go
in detail you’ll be surprised to see it is well organized – this is the life in
every old cities in India. People are out to earn “Lakshmi” but getting home or
taking “Lakshmi” home is hell of a task for middle class Indians – you often
find them discussing about life of rich people in our country especially the ones
who are involve in some kind of controversies.
The latest example is Vijaya
Mallya – you don’t understand why and how they can compromise on their
reputation, he is absconding these days another one is in Jail from last 2
years(Sahara). And if you go in the root cause you fill find it has all happened
because of “Lakshmi” - why people want
to keep hold of “Lakshmi” when you know she is “chanchala”.
It is a desire of every Indian
that “Lakshmi” should come to his / her place and stay with them forever but if
you go to the Vedic text you will find she has a tendency to wandering around. She
will not stay at one place for a very long time. And it is been said in Puranas
that wherever she goes she has been accompanied by her elder sister Alakshmi
(literary translation of this is quarrel, fight, cheating etc.). before Samudra
Manthana she was the wife of Indra and after that she went with Vishnu.
Lakshmi has never discriminated amongst
rich or poor upper cast or lower cast, thief or a king she can go to anyone and
stay with them as long as she wants – you can’t keep her forever – not even Indra
able to keep her on his side who we are !!!!.
The current situation of this
world is roam around Lakshmi – people are running after her and she is making
them run no matter which field you are in the main objective is Lakshmi. In
Indian society “a yogi who does not care for wealth has given more respect then
a Bhogi”.
As a country Bharat – Hinduism has
travelled from Vedic ritualism to Puranic devotion in it’s course of journey
and human race (Hindus) has been the part of this journey but only as a
follower we or mass has never thought of changing itself on his own, but always
find easier in following someone and that has made the society so dumb. We have
been moved by Yogi’s like Assaram – where we could have stopped him much before
he could have even think of proclaiming himself as a God. This is also is a
very good example of Lakshmi not discriminating between a thief and a Yogi. Here a Thief became a Yogi and we the innocent
never able to see it.
As I said it is one of the most
amusing thing to see Lakshmi being accompanying those who have never did
anything for the betterment of the society. In such a society Lakshmi was seen
as the source of all problem.
I don’t know whether Mallaya will
ever return to this country, and even if he returns something will happen to
him or not. Whether Mr Sahara will ever be prosecuted severely or not so that the
people - who want to become like him or Mr. Mallaya ever get a lesson.
We have to understand our Indian philosophy
its unlike western philosophy which focuses only on science and society. Our
society or Indian philosophy puts greater emphasis on psychology it is human
mind which is the seed of all human problems and all human solutions. Let’s work
upon this we will come out of all our problems at once.
